Types Of Marketing That You Can Use In Your Business To Grow More Revenue Everyday

What Is Marketing and How many types of marketing are there to use in any business to generate more revenue?

Types of marketing and how you can use them for your business branding and revenue generating strategies

You May have the best definition of marketing in your head but Here's my definition of marketing to understand the core of it.

A market is a place where you go to do the shopping for your needs, requirements, and desirable products, whereas Marketing, is the process where a brand invites you to come to a marketplace and chose them and them only.

You see the difference between market and marketing. In the market, you choose to get what you buy but in marketing, you get influenced to buy what's been already sold to you through direct and indirect ways.

As a seller, your every effort of making your product sell is called marketing, and as a consumer or a customer, the force that led you to the particular brand in the marketplace is called marketing.

Other marketers may use the fancy definition to define marketing but I say and I believe that it's all about the creativity of a person, marketer, seller, and entrepreneur to sell something in a manner that generates revenue for their business that they are really proud of.

Here are all types of marketing or say creativity of marketers that make any business stand out and stand tall for a long and long time.

1. Offline Marketing / Traditional Marketing

Any kind of effort taken by a business to sell their product and services without using the internet is known as Offline marketing or Traditional Marketing.
For example, Advertisements published on paper, magazines, and on-street, billboards, etc, or sending direct mail instead of email are the best example of offline marketing efforts.

Offline marketing, as the name indicates, a process of marketing that does not involve the internet as a medium to reach out to more people is the perfect definition of it.

Although words like “offline” and “traditional” may give the impression that this type of marketing is a thing of the past, advertisements in printed magazines or between TV shows haven’t disappeared just yet. According to Statista, TV ads still have the strongest reach among all types of ads.

A survey that shows Ads shown On TV are still the best way to promote any business and brand to sell their product and services

2. Digital Marketing

The most advanced and the most effective marketing strategy that involves using the internet and online channels to reach out to more and more customers around the world is known as digital marketing.

Digital marketing is the opposite of traditional marketing, leveraging technology that didn't exist traditionally to reach audiences in new ways.

This type of marketing encompasses all marketing efforts that live online. Businesses leverage digital channels, such as search engines, social media, email, and websites to connect with current and prospective customers.

The best examples of Digital Marketing are SEO, PPC, CPA, Social media marketing, etc.

3. Inbound marketing

Inbound marketing is the kind of marketing strategy that hooks more people into your brand through relevant and useful content.

Inbound Marketing has a specialty of exploring the audience that is already interested in your niche, for example, a customer searches for something on Google and stumbles upon a relevant article on a company’s website.

Inbound marketing hopes to create a situation where a potential customer discovers a company while looking for a solution. It's more like doing marketing for the already warmed-up audience to convert them into your customer.

4. Outbound Marketing

Outbound marketing is a way of doing marketing where a brand work on spreading the awareness of their brand to the maximum number of people to get desirable action for their brand.

It's an interruptive way of promoting a product or service to the maximum number of people even if it's not what they ask for. The purpose of doing inbound marketing is to create desire among people through awareness of the brand.

Best examples of outbound marketing are - Promoting a product through cold calls, cold emails, direct mail, most forms of advertising, etc.

5. Content Marketing

Type of marketing where the content becomes the king, where a brand use content to reach out to the maximum number of people.

Content marketing is usually practiced as a form of inbound marketing, where the content offers a solution to a problem that a prospect is researching. Prospects discover promoted products by learning about their applications.

Content marketing is often used to generate leads, where the most premium content is gated behind a form requesting personal information like name, phone number, or email. Later on, that information is used for other marketing tactics (including outbound).

The best examples of content marketing are - Blog articles, videos, vlogs, Podcasts, Webinars, Case studies, eBooks, White papers, etc.

The marketing done on search engines through paid and organic ways to reach out to more and more people that are looking for a solution is called search engine marketing.

80% of people make a query on a search engine like google with what, where, when, and how questions, and if your brand stands out in the search engine result pages (SERPs) then you can generate much more revenue for your business.

There are two ways of winning search engine marketing for your business

7. Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is a type of marketing where a brand or company pays a commission to a third party to bring more sales for the brand.

You may have heard of affiliate programs, affiliate programs are created by the third-party website where they hire people to sell more products or services.

I affiliate marketing company or a brand gives a % of the commission per sale to a third party that helps them generate more and more leads.

Where ever you find a link of the product or a website other than on their own brand's website - It's an affiliate link. Meaning a third party like an affiliate program website or a blogger or an influence is getting some % of commission if you click that link.

It's like serving rewards for sharing links and spreading awareness that leads to closing more deals.

Affiliate marketing is also a very popular and the most wanted career nowadays because you get to run a business by just making sales by sharing links without any Expense of opening an office, investing in a product, or holding any inventory.

You just need to be good in sales and marketing and you could run a great affiliate marketing business.

8. Social Media Marketing

A marketing strategy that involves creating content for brand awareness and reaching out to more and more people around the world through social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc to generate more and more leads for business is known as social media marketing.

The goal of social media is to grow an audience and engage with them. This leads to increased brand awareness, website traffic, and, eventually, sales.

Social media marketing involves a mix of tactics, including publishing content, responding to comments, and running social media advertisements.

9. Influencer marketing

Influencer marketing is one of the very popular marketing strategies these days. Where a brand or company finds people who already have their ideal customers in their network and then they pay some % of commission or promotion charges to them for promoting their brand, product, and service in front of their network.

More like affiliate marketing, but in affiliate marketing -an affiliate has to find networks and people to buy from them but in influencer marketing - Influencers already have those networks in thousand & in million, so that they can simply talk about the brand and direct them to make a purchase.

It's a very effective marketing strategy for any online business.

Here's an example of Influencer marketing - An expert in fitness on a popular social media platform has 50k followers and then there is a fitness brand that wants to sell their new product. Now, all it needs to develop an influencer marketing strategy is to connect the dots.  Fitness brands will reach out to fitness experts and then fitness experts will recommend the brand's product on their network...

A brand gets the sales, the influencer gets the money - win-win for both.

10. B2B marketing

Business to business marketing, where one business sells their product & service to another business.

For example - A business like Linkedin {A platform to find job & career opportunities} serves other businesses that offer & hire recruiters for the company.
By far, LinkedIn holds a third of all U.S. B2B digital display ad revenue.

11. B2C Marketing

Business to customer marketing, where a brand directly sells to their customer through their store, shop, or website.

12. Growth Marketing

Marketing that includes the constant growth of any business through various effective ways of reaching out to more customers is known as growth marketing.

13. Brand Marketing

The marketing strategy that involves awareness of the brand among the maximum number of people is known as brand marketing.

What is a brand?

A brand is a soul to any business, an emotion with which the customer gets connected. It's a selling proposition for your business. A unique name of your business that stands out and when people hear of it - they should know in their bones about what it is, what it does, and what it serves for people in the world.

Here's are a few examples of brands that you know in your bones - what they do.

Amazon, Apple, Mastercard, The Avengers, Facebook, BMW, Coca-Cola, etc.

14. Email Marketing

Capturing the email ids of your customer or ideal audience through online surveys, contests, and by request and then using that email list of your ideal customer to promote your new products or service through email marketing automation tools called email marketing.

Email marketing is the most responding marketing so far. When you send an email to your old customer or to your ideal customer, there is a 60% of chance that they will buy your product or at least remember you for making any future purchase.

This type of marketing serves four main purposes:

Generate traffic – You can communicate with your audience through emails with the goal to take them from the email to a specific page, e.g., your latest content.

Lead nurturing – This includes so-called drip campaigns used methodically email by email and touchpoint by touchpoint, leading email subscribers to a purchase opportunity. This process also “qualifies” leads to different types of subscribers, e.g., potential business opportunities and brand fans.

Onboarding – This refers to a sequence of emails sent through the “lifecycle” of a customer to make them discover and experience the value of the product and eventually retain them. A common use of email onboarding is within a trial period of a SaaS product.

Generate revenue – Brands often offer customers an incentive to sign up for a newsletter, such as 20% off the next purchase. Then it’ll send special offers to newsletter subscribers.

Now it become a tradition for every business to build their email list - No matter what thing you buy next but they will definitely ask you for your phone number or email id so that they can send you new offers. That's called email marketing.

15. Word-of-mouth marketing (WOMM)

Word of mouth could be a natural side effect of the product or service that you're selling or use can use it as a strategy to close more and more deals.

For example:- What makes your final purchasing decision online??  Tons of reviews and feedback that make you sure about the product and brand, that makes you trust any brand.. It's all about what others say.

So if you already utilize this final stage of any customer as an opportunity for you to score - you can defiantly close more deals than ever.

Tactics are used intentionally and actively to influence the spread of discussions about the company or its products or services known as Word of mouth marketing.

For example:- Creating a viral effect as a marketing strategy for a new launch, or trending on Twitter with positive feedback about your product, or collecting as much feedback as you can to close more deals.. It's all WOMM.

16. Event Marketing

Organizing an event to spread awareness or a new launch of your product is simply an event marketing strategy.

Event marketing is a marketing tactic where branded events are used as a way to communicate with the target audience and promote products or services.

The aim of event marketing is to create a memorable experience by engaging event participants, encouraging them to directly interact with a brand.

Interactions may take different forms: trying out a product, watching a product demonstration, watching a concert, attending launches, networking, taking part in a seminar or conference, etc.

17. Guerrilla Marketing

The combination of provoking desire and spreading word of mouth about any product and service through any number of creative marketing strategies, we call it Guerrilla Marketing.

Guerrilla marketing is a promotion tactic that involves using unexpected and unconventional interactions to evoke strong emotions and provoke word of mouth.

Traits of guerrilla marketing:

- Low-cost Creative
- Simple and short messages
- Use of public places like streets or shopping malls as a medium of advertisement
- Creates a strong, memorable impression

18. Conversational Marketing

Marketing tactics that focus on closing more and more deals by recognizing the targeted audience and channels where the ideal customer congregate is known as Conversion Marketing.

Conversational marketing is the ability to have 1:1 conversations with your audience across multiple channels – meeting customers how, when, and where they want. It is more than just live chat, it extends to phone calls, texts, Facebook Messenger, email, Slack, and other channels.

Conversion marketing turns warm leads into a customer, it doesn't perform an activity such as spreading awareness, making attractive hooks for the audience, it works at the bottom of a sales funnel, where a warm lead wait to trust your brand to make a purchasing decision.

20. Stealth Marketing

Marketing that doesn't feel like marketing. A process of blending into your ideal customer routine that your brand makes an impact on the subconscious mind of your customer. Leave an impression without interrupting their fun.

Stealth marketing occurs when brands promote their products or service to consumers who don’t realize they’re being marketed to. For instance, when you’re watching a television show, and see a branded product integrated into the shot.

Before influencers were subject to ad disclosure regulations, they often used stealth marketing to advertise sponsored products.

For this marketing style to work, brands have to find opportunities that align with their brand identity and values.

21. Public relations (PR) Marketing

Creating a buzz or using a viral buzz to spread awareness of your brand is known as public relations marketing.

PR marketing is a strategy where you partner with a news source to generate more buzz around your business. PR marketing is commonly used when a company launches a new product, has a major change of leadership, or announces an expansion.

PR marketing might not directly promote a product, but it's a good way of increasing brand awareness for your business. This is especially relevant in B2B marketing because some business buyers will make decisions based on their understanding of your company's position in the competitive landscape.

For example:- Google’s Fight Ebola Campaign

The outbreak of the Ebola virus in 2014 was critical as it was spread among many countries and took many lives. Google, to help the people in need and to build up a positive brand image, started a donation campaign where it pledged to give $2 for every $1 donated to the cause through its website.

The public relations strategy attracted the media attention and resulted to be a huge success as Google raised $7.5 million.

22. Network Marketing

Last but not least on my list is network marketing. Network marketing is a method of marketing that relies on individuals harnessing their personal networks to grow a business or sell a product. These networks are used to generate leads and recruit customers or partners, usually implementing a training and mentorship process for new recruits.

Network Marketing includes Multi-level marketing (MLM) is a distribution-based marketing network that includes direct sales and a downline of distributors.

These home businesses tend to get a lot of bad press for their similarity to pyramid schemes. In reality, they have one key difference. Where pyramid schemes require people to invest in a false promise of wealth, MLM organizations sell real products or services that distributors believe in.

As I said at the beginning of this article - whatever creative way you find to sell more products or services for your business and brand - use it and it will be one of its own marketing strategies. The key focus of any marketing campaign is to reach out to more and more people and make your business memorable, inspiring, and trustworthy to make purchasing decisions.

All the very best to all your marketing campaigns and do save & share this article to your network for anytime access.
